Phil Hanson / Course Director
Phil is a 68-year-old former physical education instructor. Throughout his career he used the disciplines of running, biking, swimming and walking as exercise venues. Later, it was easy for Phil to transition into triathlons. He started participating on a team in Fairmont's 1st triathlon in 1983 and continued until 1989. Phil helped re-start the Fairmont Triathlon in 2007 after an 18 year hiatus.
Noella O'Rourke / Administration Director
Noella was introduced to the Fairmont Triathlon when she met her husband Michael O'Rourke. Noella joined the Fairmont Triathlon staff as the Administration Director in early 2007 and in 2009 she added the role of website designer. Although she has not participated in the event itself, she gives credit to each athlete participating, no matter how small their part.
Eric Johnson
Eric is an independent financial adviser in Fairmont. He has enjoyed participating in endurance activities since the 70's, including triathlons, running events, backpacking, climbing, and canoing. Of special interest is seeing "first timers" feel the accomplishment of success in an event such as the Fairmont Triathlon.
Margot Albensoeder-Madsen
Margot competed in her first Marathon in 1990 with a time of 3 hrs 58 min and qualified for the 1991 Boston Marathon. At the time she was 52 and had only started running two years prior. She is a veteran of 8 marathons, numerous half marathons and several triathlons. She is the proud winner of the Minnesota Long Distance Running Association Grand Prix in her age group. Today, Margot lives in Fairmont where she encourages everyone to join her in healthy lifestyle activities.
Char Kahler
Liz Gomez engaged everyone in her dreams and goals. Being a close friend of Liz’s, Char was drawn into helping with just about every aspect of Fairmont's very first triathlon in 1983. As a graphic artist, Char enjoyed designing the first logo; but her most cherished task was marking the athletes. Whereas Char loves athletics, she has never been a triathlon-ite. Her children have and they along with her husband Wayne have helped with a multitude of jobs for all the triathlons in Fairmont.
